aims to break the “one-way culture” of art by bringing works directly to the stage of the social movement, namely the G8 Summit in North Germany. The exhibition is an art intervention which offers a third dimension to the political confrontation between activists and security forces. Art goes Heiligendamm extends the space of art beyond the traditional white box or classic theatre battlefield. Open to the public, the project confronts the average citizen to enter the globalization dialogue.
is set in and around a series of old warehouses on the waterfront in Rostock, approximately 20 kilometers from the location of the G8 Summit. Videos, sculptures and a replication of the Heiligendamm Hotel called “The Silver Pearl” complete with sauna and meeting rooms are all located on the compound. Visitors are also encouraged to attend the series of workshops, lectures and theatre shows such as “Can Clowns change the world?” by the World Parlament of Clowns and GipfelMusik, a musical reflection on communication problems between languages and cultures.
